Abstract

The problem in this research is reading difficulties in Madrasah Ibtida'iyah, the
researcher wants to see the workshop class used by the teacher in overcoming reading difficulties
in children which is an inhibiting factor in the learning process so an analysis of the problem is
needed, both from the causal factors so that the child difficult to read or from teachers who are
inadequate in providing reading lessons both in terms of the lack of media used by the teacher.
The aim of this research is to describe the factors that cause reading difficulties, to describe
whether by means of a workshop class; can overcome the reading difficulties of MI Nurul Islam
Kalibendo students. The research approach is qualitative, researchers collect data using
observation, interviews and documentation methods. As for the data, researchers used
qualitative descriptions of case studies by analyzing the data then presenting the data as a brief
description and concluding the problem to answer the existing problem formulation. The
research results show that the factors that influence students' reading difficulties include working
memory, emotional and social factors. Having this workshop class can help teachers to deal with
students who have difficulty reading. Finally, workshop classes are filled from grade 3 and above
because for grades 1 and 2 the teacher focuses on teaching students to be able to read.
